Mumbai. In July, 1.6 crore employment opportunities were created in the country. Most of these jobs were created in the agriculture and construction sectors. At the same time, salary jobs decreased by 32 lakh during the same period. The Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) gave this information.
CMIE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mahesh Vyas said that there was a tremendous growth of 16 million jobs in India in July, but the quality of employment generated in July was poor. An additional 1.86 crore people were working as small traders and daily wage laborer’s. Most of them were employed in the agriculture sector. An additional 1.12 crore people got employment in this sector.
Growing sowing activities: Vyas said that good quality i.e. paid jobs declined by 32 lakh in July. The increase in employment in the agriculture sector means that sowing activities are increasing. Kharif sowing till the end of June 2021 was more than 20 per cent lower than the same period a year ago.
Increase in employment in agriculture sector
Vyas said that employment has increased in the agriculture sector. Usually this increase starts in June and reaches a high level in July. It continues in August as well. After that, employment in the agriculture sector increases again in November. It is the time of Kharif harvesting. In July, 80 lakh to 1.2 crore people get employment in the agriculture sector. In July this year, this figure has been 1.12 crores.
Workers may lose employment-
He said that these agricultural laborers will lose their jobs after the Kharif sowing season is over. These workers should be provided with an alternative source of employment after the end of the season. In July, 54 lakh additional people got employment in the construction sector. At the same time, eight lakh people lost employment in the manufacturing sector. Only five lakh people got additional employment in the service sector.
