The Delhi-Meerut Expressway is one of the most important roadways in the country, connecting the national capital to the industrial hub of Meerut. It is a six-lane expressway, and has recently become the first expressway in India to have an electronic toll collection system. This has made the journey much smoother and faster for commuters and truckers alike. In addition to this, the government has recently announced that not only toll rates will be applicable on the expressway, but also fines will be imposed in case of violations. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of the toll rates and fines applicable on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Toll Rate Details

The toll rate applicable on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is Rs. 65 for two-wheelers, Rs. 130 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 260 for light commercial vehicles (LCVs), and Rs. 390 for heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs). The toll rate for buses is Rs. 520, whereas for multi-axle vehicles it is Rs. 745.

Toll Fine

The government has recently announced that if any vehicle is found violating the speed limits on the expressway, then the driver will be fined. The amount of the fine will depend on the speed at which the vehicle was travelling, and can range from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000. Additionally, if any vehicle is found crossing the expressway without paying the toll, then a fine of Rs. 500 will be imposed.

Penalty Imposed

In addition to the fines, the government has also announced that if any vehicle is found crossing the expressway without a valid registration, then a penalty of Rs. 2000 will be imposed. Furthermore, if a vehicle is found causing any obstruction on the expressway, then a penalty of Rs. 5000 will be imposed.

Benefits of Expressway

The Delhi-Meerut Expressway is a great boon for commuters and truckers alike, as it has helped reduce travel time significantly. It has also helped reduce the number of accidents on the road, as the expressway has a well-defined speed limit, and the electronic toll collection system has helped streamline the toll payment process.

Conclusion

The Delhi-Meerut Expressway is a great example of modern road infrastructure in India, and the recent announcement of toll rates and fines is a welcome move by the government. This will ensure that the expressway is used responsibly, and will help reduce the number of accidents on the road.
