Scooters from Italian scooter maker Aprilia will be sold at over 100 Motoplex stores across South India. Aprilia’s parent company Piaggio is increasing the visibility of the Aprilia company in the region, which accounts for 45 per cent of its sales in India. Sudhanshu Agarwal, Head of Two Wheeler Business, Piaggio India, informed about Aprilia’s new plans in South India.

Let us tell you that Aprilia India recently launched the updated lineup of its Aprilia SR 125 and Aprilia SR 160 scooters in India. The Aprilia SR 125 price starts at Rs 1.08 Lakh, while the Aprilia SR 160 range starts at Rs 1.18 Lakh (ex-showroom).

The revised Aprilia SR series of motorcycles bought with them some cosmetic and technical upgrades including some of the fastest 125 and 160cc scooters currently on sale in the country. Styling changes include a redesigned front end with new V-shaped LED headlights.

Other changes up front include a revised front apron as well as vents for the handlebars with a new cowl. Other design changes include a split seat setup, new grab rails and an all-over LED lighting setup.

The new Aprilia SR series of scooters also gets a new LCD display that displays tachometer, average speed, top speed, current speed, overall mileage, fuel gauge, dual trip meter, odometer, engine oil temperature reading, rider readout for outside temperature, ABS Information like indicator and instant mileage is available.

Talking about the engine of Aprilia SR 160, it uses a 3-valve, fuel injected single cylinder 160.03cc engine, which produces 10.84 bhp power at 7,600rpm and 11.6Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.

On the other hand, talking about the engine found in Aprilia SR 125, the 124.45cc powerplant engine has been retained in it as before. This engine produces 9.78 bhp power at 7,700rpm and 9.7Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.

The engines of both the Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 are mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. Let us tell you that the Aprilia SR 160 has a 7-litre fuel tank while the Aprilia SR 125 fuel storage unit has a 6-litre capacity.

The Aprilia SR 160 also retains its steel frame chassis with telescopic front forks at the front. A mono shock has been given in the rear end for rough roads. The Aprilia SR 160 gets a single 160mm disc brake at the front while the rear end gets a 140mm drum brake.

The brakes are assisted by single-channel ABS. The only mechanical change on the Aprilia SR 160 lineup is the brand of tires fitted to the wheels, with the updated scooter now sporting tires from the CEAT instead of the MRF, which were staples of its predecessor.
