Dhaka: Police in Bangladesh have arrested 10 people in a case registered for vandalizing several houses, shops and temples of Hindu community in Shiyali village of Khulna area. According to a report in Bangladesh’s The Daily Star newspaper, the police raided the area last night and arrested the accused. Rupsa Upazila Puja Utsav Samiti President Shaktipada Basu had registered a case against 24 named and 150 to 250 unknown accused in connection with the sabotage incident and after that the police took action of arrest.

Actually, in Shiyali village on Saturday night, about a hundred miscreants armed with sharp weapons attacked and ransacked many houses, shops and five temples . According to Khulna district superintendent of police Mohammad Mehboob Hassan, the situation is now under control. Hassan said that additional police force has been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
The reason for the attack could be a heated argument between two groups of both the communities.
Locals say that there was a heated argument between two groups of Hindu and Muslim community on Friday night and this could be the reason for the attack. At the same time, some local people claimed that among the attackers were people from neighboring areas of Sheikhpura, Bamandanga and Chandpur. The attackers first ransacked temples in Shiyali and then targeted nearby houses and shops. After the violence, the police-administration handled the situation.
