New Delhi. Budget airline SpiceJet on Thursday said its passengers can now use the airline’s in-flight entertainment platform SpiceScreen to book taxis to and from the airport during their flight. The new service, in the first phase, will be available for passengers arriving at the Delhi airport from August 12. The airline will further expand the service to all major airports including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Goa, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Pune in a phased manner.
SpiceJet This initiative, a first of its kind in the domestic aviation industry, will help passengers avoid waiting for their transportation after arrival in the taxi transfer sector, the airline said in a statement. Passengers will get taxi booking OTP message via SMS, WhatsApp and automated inbound call confirmation on their mobile phone upon arrival at the airport after booking the taxi on SpiceScreen. It will also allow customers to pay through any payment option (online or cash) at the end of the journey.
SpiceJet in August last year introduced SpiceScreen, a complimentary in-flight entertainment system that can be accessed from devices such as passengers’ smartphones, tablets or laptops by directly connecting to the onboard wireless network. The airline said that it will also offer a special discount on fares to passengers using this option to book taxis and will not charge any cancellation fee if the passenger does not board the taxi for any reason.
SpiceJet said that in order to ease last mile connectivity, passengers will no longer need to carry their heavy luggage to the cab departure area as the booked cabs will be available at the arrival gate only. Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet said, “With the launch of the industry first SpiceScreen midair airport transfer service, we aim to take the consumer experience to the next level. When we launched SpiceScreen in August last year, we promised that we would add more onboard services for our customers.
