Covid-19: America is planning to give booster dose of Covid vaccine

New York. US health officials on Wednesday recommended all Americans take a COVID-19 booster dose to increase their protection against infection. Officials have made this recommendation at a time when there have been signs that the effectiveness of vaccines is decreasing with the increase in delta cases in the country.

The plan, outlined by the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other top officials, recommends people take an additional dose eight months after taking a second dose of either Pfizer or Moderna. Health officials said people who have received Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine may also need additional doses. He, however, said that he is waiting for more figures and has not drawn up a plan yet.

Officials said the plan is still awaiting a Food and Drug Administration evaluation on the safety and effectiveness of the third dose.

Health officials said in a statement that it is “very clear” that the protection of vaccines against infection diminishes over time, and as the highly contagious delta variant is spreading rapidly, “we are experiencing mild and moderate symptoms.” are seeing evidence of reduced protection against infection.
