New Delhi: The government on Monday banned the export of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing Kits amid several experts’ warnings of a possible third wave of the Covid pandemic. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification, “The export of Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Testing Kits has been put in the restricted category with immediate effect.”
Restrictions imposed to increase domestic availability
Exporters have to obtain license or approval from DGFT for export of items included in the restricted category. The purpose of such restrictions is to increase the domestic availability of the kit. Many experts are warning of a possible third wave of the pandemic in the country in the near future.
3 crore crosses 22 lakh figure
According to the data of the Ministry of Health, the number of corona virus cases in the country increased to 3 crore 22 lakh 25 thousand 513 on Monday, while the number of people who lost their lives due to this epidemic increased to 4 lakh 31 thousand 642. So far, a total of 3 crore 14 lakh 11 thousand 924 corona infected have been successfully treated. At present, there are 3 lakh 81 thousand 947 corona active cases.
More than 54 crore 58 lakh vaccine doses
Let us tell you that for the prevention of corona infection, the Kovid vaccination program is being run across the country. Under which 54 crore 58 lakh 57 thousand 108 doses have been administered so far. Out of which 42 crore 40 lakh 72 thousand 750 people have been given the first dose and 12 crore 17 lakh 84 thousand 358 people have been given the second dose of corona vaccine.
