The maximum number of 223 new cases of infection in the state have been reported from Coimbatore. After this, 219 cases were reported from Chennai, 185 from Erode. At the same time, 22 patients died in the government hospital, while 12 patients died in the private hospital. Six of the patients were not already suffering from any disease.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday that the total number of anti-Covid-19 vaccines given to people in the country so far has increased to more than 54 crores. According to the tentative report till 7 pm, about 52 lakh doses were given on Saturday. The ministry said that out of the beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44, 27,37,130 were given the first dose and 6,07,591 were given the second dose on Saturday.
A total of 19,45,18,646 people in the age group of 18-44 have been given the first dose and 1,51,14,678 people have been given the second dose in all the states and union territories since the start of the third phase of vaccination, the ministry said. .
