Covid Vaccination: The data of corona vaccination of women in the country has worried the central government. India is close to covering almost half of its population in terms of applying at least the first dose of the vaccine.
In such a situation, the decrease in the figures of women in the matter of getting the vaccine in the country is worrying. Especially in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, where there is a huge difference in the vaccination figures of women compared to men. On the other hand, in states like Kerala and Himachal Pradesh, women are ahead of men in terms of vaccination.
According to the report of Times of India, about 522 million doses of vaccine have been given in the country so far. Of these, 46% of the doses have been given to women. According to a senior central government official, “At present, there is a gap of 7 to 8 percent in the vaccination figures among women compared to men in the country. There is not much difference in the population ratio of women and men in the country. Hence this gap of vaccination. This difference of vaccination between men and women should not be more than 2 to 3 percent.
The central government is planning a dedicated campaign
The National Expert Group for Vaccine Administration (NEGVAC), created for Kovid-19, held a meeting last week regarding this issue. After this, now the central government is preparing to run a dedicated campaign to increase the number of vaccinations among women. According to officials, the central government will work closely with Unicef and all state governments for this campaign.
According to officials, till the month of April, this difference of vaccination between men and women was 10 percent. Which has now come down to 7 to 8 percent. However, the main reason for this is the beginning of vaccination in pregnant women. Till July 30, the first dose of Covid vaccine has been given to 2.3 lakh pregnant women in the country.
