The first Test between India and England will be played in Nottingham from 3.30 pm. India need only 157 runs to win with nine wickets remaining.
Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets in the innings for the sixth time in his career to prevent England from scoring a big score despite Joe Root’s century in the second innings. After this, India made a smooth start and raised hopes of a positive result here on the fourth day of the first Test match on Saturday. Chasing a target of 209 runs, India scored 51 for one by the end of the fourth day’s play. Thus, they now need only 157 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. England scored 303 runs in their second innings with the help of Captain Root’s innings of 109 runs.
England had scored 183 runs in their first innings, in response to which India scored 278 runs and took a lead of 95 runs. Root presented the view of excellent batting. He faced 172 balls in his innings and hit 14 fours but he did not get support from the other end. Other England batsmen started well but failed to score big. Bumrah (5 for 64) played an important role in England’s second innings wrap while maintaining his excellent momentum like the first innings.

Apart from the India-England Test, matches will also be played against The Hundred League, Royal London Cup and Tamil Nadu Premier League. In The Hundred, only one match will be played in both men’s and women’s today. Two matches will also be played in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Seven matches will be played in the Royal One Day Cup. In The Hundred, the Oval vs Trent Rockets match will be played in both men’s and women’s.
