New Delhi: In the draft Master Plan of Delhi 2041, emphasis has been laid on the main points like continuing the economic activities round the clock in the state as well as reviving the original appearance of other commercial centers including Connaught Place. Apart from this, a plan has also been laid in the master plan to carry out the activities of wholesale business from Old Delhi.
The draft prepared by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) was made public on Wednesday. For this, suggestions and objections have been invited from the stakeholders within 45 days. The draft stresses concern over pollution, moving towards cleaner economies like information technology, knowledge-based and hi-tech industries, entrepreneurial activities, realty market, tourism, hospitality, tertiary health care and higher education.
The draft emphasizes on the 24-hour city concept, the Model Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2015 as well as the night time economy policy concept. The master plan also focuses on identifying cultural activity and entertainment options to attract tourists and locals.
The draft said an area-based reform approach would be adopted to revive the city’s commercial hub. Apart from this, Connaught Place and its adjoining areas will be developed as heritage and historical buildings. Similarly old areas such as areas near Sadar Bazar will be redeveloped, allowing warehousing and hotels to meet the needs of local businesses. DDA will also identify different areas as Economic Growth Zone, Clean-Tech Innovation Cluster, Medical City, Education City. A separate Green Development Zone (GDA) will be created for a green economy.
