New Delhi: The number of new cases of corona coming daily in the country is around thirty to forty thousand. On the one hand, while the figure is decreasing in the country, in some states including Kerala and Maharashtra, once again the number of new cases has started increasing alarmingly.
In view of the rising corona case in Kerala, on July 29, the central government had sent a team of six-member experts. This team is headed by Dr. Surjit Singh. Surjit Singh is the director of NCDS.
This team, which reached Kerala, told that the reason behind the increase in infection here is not monitoring the corona patients properly in home isolation. According to sources, the team of experts is visiting those districts where the infection rate is high. The team will soon give a detailed report.
According to one of the sources, a high official said, “Earlier it was being said that the infection rate is high in the states with minority population. The team has found that Pathanamthitta district, which is minority dominated, is actually showing positivity of around 6.5-7 per cent.
“When you look at other districts with 12-13 per cent infection rate, and some even 17%,” the official said. Therefore, it may not be correct to say that more corona is spreading in the districts with minority population in Kerala.
Instead, the center found that the patients were not being taken care of properly in home isolation, the source said. According to the source, the team said, “People living in home isolation were not being monitored properly. Those who have been found to be corona positive are in home isolation, they are generally moving in the neighbourhood, and hence are spreading the infection. This is a preliminary assessment. The team is now visiting some such districts where the infection rate is very high.
