Sawan Kumar Tak, the director of popular Bollywood films Sanam Bewafa, Sautan, Saajan Bina Suhagan, passed away in Mumbai on Thursday. The director was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital a few days back due to a lung-related illness.
His last directorial venture was the Salman Khan-starrer Saavn: The Love Season in 2006. Apart from directing, Sawan also ventured into screenwriting, song-writing and film production. Apart from writing the scripts and songs for all his films, he has also written songs in other films.

Superstar Salman Khan has expressed his condolences and posted on social media, writing- “Peace be with you my dear Sawan ji. Always loved and respected you.”
Meanwhile, Sawan began his career in Bollywood in the 1960s as a producer in Sanjeev Kumar’s Naunihal. Sawan was the ex-husband of music director Usha Khanna. His nephew is the distributor and producer Naveen Tak. Confirming the news of his uncle’s death, his nephew Naveen said that he died of a heart attack on Thursday evening. Naveen also said that Sawan’s last rites will be performed in Mumbai this evening.
