Chandigarh: In view of the estimation of the current rate of Covid cases to double in the coming 64 days, the Punjab Government has ordered 60 thousand Covid tests daily in the state. This order was given by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh while virtual inauguration of Children’s Covid Ward and PSA Oxygen Plants in Ludhiana and Faridkot.
Taking stock of the state’s preparedness for a possible third wave of COVID-19, Captain Amarinder directed the Health Department to provide OPD patients in government and private hospitals, admission places of travelers, government offices, industry and labor colonies. Orders have been given to start the testing of staff of marriage palaces, restaurants, pubs, bars, gyms etc. on a priority basis.
Eight beds for children including care unit
Five Pediatric Intensive Care Units in Covid Pediatric Ward (PICU) and eight for Multi System Inflammatory Syndrome (MISC) in children at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana. Beds are available. He said that the state-of-the-art PIC unit can be compared with such excellent facilities inside the country.
The Chief Minister thanked Hero Ecotech Limited, Vijay Munjal of Ludhiana and Dr. Bishav Mohan of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital for donating this facility at a cost of 20 lakhs. Here doctors and nurses have been trained with the help of Dr. Bishav Mohan.

DMCH for this ward. Echo and Cardiology backup is available. 5 PICU beds have been donated by Dr. Rupesh Agarwal (Singapore) Jesus Project O-2, India. Here other facilities have been provided by the Punjab government. The Chief Minister announced that the PICU and second class pediatric beds and 4 GMCHs would be increased to 1,104 by the government in all the districts.
The PSA Oxygen Plants inaugurated by the Chief Minister in Ludhiana include 1000 LPM in both Civil Hospital and ESI and 500 LPM at Vardhman Urban Health Centre. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a 2000 liter PSA plant sponsored by SPS Oberoi at Baba Farid Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot.
