FIFA World Cup 2022 : The FIFA World Cup 2022 is starting from 20 November in Qatar. A total of 32 teams are participating in this global tournament. In fact, the country’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend the opening ceremony of the tournament to be held in Qatar on November 20 to represent India, not the Indian football team. The Ministry of External Affairs has also given information about this.

Jagdeep Dhankhar will visit Qatar on November 20-21 at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Meanwhile, apart from attending the opening ceremony of the Football World Cup, the Vice President will also meet members of the Indian community during his visit. He will represent India at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup and it will be a matter of pride for the country to be there even if the Indian football team is not there.

How is the format of the tournament?

A total of 32 teams are participating in the FIFA World Cup 2022 which lasts for about a month. All the teams are divided into eight groups and after the league round, the top two teams in each group will play in the top 16 round. After this there will be quarter final matches between the top eight teams. Then the semi-finals will be played on 14 and 15 December. Then both the losing semi-final teams will play for the third place on 17th December and the final of the tournament i.e. the title match will be played on 18th December.

The special thing about this year’s FIFA World Cup is that for the first time this tournament is being played in the month of November-December. Till now this event was always organized in June-July. The matches of the global tournament will be played in eight stadiums located in Qatar. On Friday, FIFA banned the sale of alcohol and any intoxicant in and around all these stadiums. Also, many dress codes have already been implemented. The FIFA World Cup is being hosted for the first time in the Middle East.
