New Delhi: Global advisory firm Gartner said on Thursday that government spending on information technology (IT sector) is projected to grow at 8.6 per cent in 2022, with 13.2 per cent expected to grow during the current 2021. Apeksha Kaushik, Senior Principal Research Analyst at Gartner said, “The Indian government’s initiatives to digitize organizations took a big leap in 2020 due to the global pandemic. The pandemic forced the government to change its priorities.

He said public health is improving as vaccination rates increase across the country and governments will continue to focus on digitization efforts.

According to the report, spending on software will increase by 24.7 percent to US$1823 million in 2022, while the growth in data center spending will decrease and is estimated to be 2.2 percent. Gartner further said that total spending on telecom services is expected to decline by one percent.
