New Delhi: Manisha Koirala has shown her talent in many great films like ‘Bombay’, ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’, ‘Dil Se’ and ‘Company’. Once after the audition, Vidhu Vinod Chopra rejected her as a ‘terrible actress’. She is celebrating her 51st birthday today (Manisha Koirala birthday) on 16 August. Come, know how she proved Vidhu wrong and acted in her own film.
According to the report of PTI, Manisha wrote about this incident in her book ‘Healed: How Cancer Gave Me a New Life’. She writes at one point in her book, ‘I remember my screen test given for the film ‘1942: A Love Story’. Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra had called me to do a scene. He finally said, ‘Manisha, you acted very poorly. You are a bad actress.
The ‘combatant woman’ sitting inside Manisha got upset about this. She took it as a challenge. Then the actress asked Vidhu for a day’s time and asked to take audition again. Vidhu accepted her point. The actress told that she went home and practiced her dialogues continuously. Seeing Manisha practicing like this, her mother got upset and advised her not to kill herself because of rejection. However, she was all set to do things in her favor.

In the audition the next day, Manisha surprised Vidhu with her performance. Then Vidhu told her, ‘If you are ready to do every single scene of my film with heart and soul, then I will sign you instead of Madhuri Dixit. Manisha, yesterday you were at zero and today you are at hundred. Let us tell you that Manisha had made a distance from films after suffering from cancer in 2012. She made her Bollywood comeback in 2017 with the film ‘Dear Maya’.
