Chandigarh: Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, convicted in the rape case, is undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Ram Rahim was admitted here on Sunday, earlier he was also admitted to PGIMS from Rohtak’s Sunaria jail after his health deteriorated.
Honeypreet turned attendant
According to the news of the Indian Express, Honeypreet, Ram Rahim’s friend and closest friend, will now take care of him in the hospital. Honeypreet has registered herself as Ram Rahim’s attendant in the hospital and she will take care of him for the next one week. She will be allowed to meet Ram Rahim in the hospital and she will be present in the hospital for the service of Ram Rahim. Honeypreet has also got her attendant card made in the hospital.
Ram Rahim is serving his sentence in Sunaria Jail in Rohtak district of Haryana. Some tests were done on him at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak on Thursday after he complained of stomach pain in jail. After this Ram Rahim was taken to Medanta Hospital for further tests.
Shifted from Rohtak to Gurugram
Sunaria Jail Superintendent Sunil Sangwan told that all the tests related to the health of Ram Rahim could not be done in PGIMS. Another top government hospital was contacted in this regard and they said that due to the COVID-19 situation, tests are not being conducted there at present.
Sangwan said that it was later suggested to the jail authorities that investigations could be conducted at Medanta Hospital. Then Ram Rahim was taken to the hospital amidst heavy police force. Earlier, officials had said that CT scan of Ram Rahim’s abdomen and other tests were done at PGIMS located in Rohtak.
Sunaria has been in jail since 2017 after the Dera chief was found guilty of raping two of his female followers. In August 2017, a special CBI court in Panchkula sentenced him to 20 years in jail in two rape cases.
