Kapil Dev won the Lord’s Test in 1986 and Dhoni in 2014
In 1986, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, India won its first Test match at Lord’s. India defeated England by five wickets in this match on the back of the superb bowling of Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev and the superb batting of Dilip Vengsarkar. Also, in this series against England, Team India won 2-0.
India had to wait 28 years for their second Test victory at Lord’s. India got its second victory on this historic ground in 2014 under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Kohli reached the fourth position in the list of most successful Test captains
With this victory, former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd has reached the fourth position in the list of captains who have won the most Test matches. Kohli has 37 wins in 63 Test matches as captain. While Lloyd led West Indies in 74 Test matches, out of which he won 36 matches. In the list of most successful captains of Test cricket, former South African captain Graeme Smith is at the first place with 53 wins in 109 matches.
At the same time, two former Australia captains Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh are present in the second and third place in this list. Ricky Ponting has won 48 out of 77 matches as captain. While Steve Waugh led Australia in 57 matches, out of which he won 41 Test matches.
