The fifth test match between India and England has started. In the match being played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, India lost the toss and started batting first. But it did not start well and the team lost its five key wickets at 98. However, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja together not only revived the team but also took it to a strong position.
Together, the two shared a partnership of 222 runs for the sixth wicket and took the team’s score beyond 300. At the end of the day’s play, India had scored 338 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Ravindra Jadeja is unbeaten on 83 runs in 163 balls, while Mohammed Shami is supporting him at the other end.

Earlier, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara opened the innings for India. Both the players initially tried to play carefully but after that both got out on the score of 46 and returned to the pavilion. Pujara 13 and Gill got out to Anderson after scoring 17 runs. Hanuma Vihari got a lifeline but he also kept going after scoring 20 runs. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer also failed to play big innings. Kohli fell victim to pots by scoring 11 and Shreyas 15.
At one point, half of India’s team had returned to the pavilion on the score of 98 and looked in trouble, but after that Pant and Jadeja together handled the innings and formed a strong partnership. Pant played an innings of 146 runs and contributed significantly in taking the team’s score past 300.
