India Monsoon Update: The Meteorological Department has said that the ongoing weak rain activity in the country is likely to continue for the next few days. However, the condition of extremely heavy rainfall over Northeast, East India, northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is expected to continue till August 14 and reduce thereafter.
There is a possibility of light rain in most parts of peninsular India (outside Tamil Nadu and Kerala) including the plains of North India (Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan), Central India, Maharashtra, Gujarat till August 15. Rain activity will intensify in India from August 16. There is a possibility of scattered to widespread rain in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next five days. Heavy rain may occur at isolated places in Tamil Nadu till August 14 and in Kerala till August 12.
The current weakness in monsoon across the country is likely to persist till August 15. At the same time, the condition of extremely heavy rains over Northeast and East India, northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is expected to remain till August 14 and after that it will reduce.
Where will it rain heavily
According to IMD data, from June 1 to August 10, the country has received five per cent less rainfall than normal.
There is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya between August 11 and 13. At the same time, widespread rain, with isolated heavy rains, is likely to continue between August 14 in the Ganga adjoining areas of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. At the same time, there is a possibility of scattered to widespread rain in the western Himachal region in the next five days. The IMD said that from August 11 to 15, heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Uttarakhand and from August 12 to 14 in Himachal Pradesh.
Heavy rain at some places in East UP
Light to moderate rain occurred at most places in East Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday while heavy rains were recorded at some places. Light rain/thundershower scattered at isolated places over Western UP. At the same time, light to heavy rains were recorded in Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Basti, Rae Bareli, Shravasti, Ballia, Lucknow and Sultanpur. The Meteorological Department has forecast that on August 12, there may be heavy rain at some places in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
