IPL Covid Protocol: The second part of this year’s season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is to be played in the UAE from 19 September. In view of the threat of corona virus, BCCI has made changes in some rules. The BCCI has informed all the IPL teams about the health and safety protocols along with these changed rules. Under the new rules, if the ball goes outside the stand or stadium during the match, it will be replaced by another ball by the fourth umpire.
According to the BCCI circular, “During any match, if the ball goes into the stands or outside the stadium, then the fourth umpire will replace it with the cricket ball in his possession. While the ball in the stand or stadium will be sanitized first. And after that the fourth umpire will deposit it with him.”
However, the BCCI, citing a recent study on the cricket ball, said that according to this study, the risk of corona virus infection through the ball is very low. At the same time, he said that despite all this, we do not want to take any kind of risk in the remaining matches of IPL.
Quarantine period will have to be completed
The BCCI has already made it clear that all players and support staff will have to complete a 6-day quarantine period before the start of the IPL. RTPCR test will also be done on the second, fourth and sixth day, only if they come negative, they will be given entry in the bio-bubble.
Although the players of Team India playing in the England tour are already in the bio bubble there. If they meet all the guidelines for ‘bubble to bubble’ transfer, then they will not have to complete the quarantine period in Dubai.
Conditional permission will be given to go to the golf course
According to the BCCI circular, players will be allowed to go to the golf course during the IPL. For this, he will have to take permission from the Chief Medical Officer of IPL 24 hours before. During this, the entire golf course will be booked for IPL players and no other person will be allowed to come here. However, during this time the use of facilities like golf club bars, restaurants, cafes and gyms will be restricted.

Along with this, the BCCI is also considering allowing a limited number of spectators in the stadium during the match. However, spectators will be allowed to sit in the upper tier of the stadium. Let us tell you that during the second wave of Corona in May, the IPL being played in India was postponed after getting cases of infection among players and support staff.
