ITBP personnel who showed bravery against the Chinese Army were awarded the Police Medal of Gallantry

Police Medal: On the occasion of Independence Day, 20 ITBP personnel have been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry, who displayed exceptional bravery against the Chinese Army during the tension along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh last year. Apart from this, the government has awarded Shaurya Chakra to six soldiers of the Indian Army for their anti-terrorist operations in Kashmir.

According to the ITBP, out of the 20 soldiers who have been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) for gallantry, 08 were last year i.e. on 15 June 2020 against the Chinese Army in Galwan Valley for gallantry, high-level strategy, tactical insight. And has been awarded for protecting the motherland.

ITBP issued a new statement saying that during the clash in Finger 4 area on May 18, 2020, 6 soldier have been awarded PMG for gallant action. Apart from this, on the same day i.e. on May 18, 2020, 6 personnel have been awarded PMG for gallant action near Hot Springs in Ladakh itself.

According to ITBP, apart from these 20 soldier, 3 soldier have been awarded PMG for displaying courage, grit and determination in anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.

This year, the government has awarded Police Medals to a total of 1038 policemen and paramilitary personnel. Of these, one Jammu and Kashmir Police soldier and one CRPF (posthumous) have been awarded the President’s Police Medal, while 628 jawans have been awarded the PMG for gallantry. Of these, 398 were awarded during their deployment in Jammu and Kashmir, 155 in the Naxal-affected area and 27 during their deployment in the North-East areas.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the remaining 390 policemen and soldiers have been honored for their outstanding services. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this year the highest number of police medals have been given to Jammu and Kashmir Police (256). After that 151 have been given to CRPF, 67 to Odisha Police, 25 to Maharashtra Police, 23 to ITBP and 20 to Chhattisgarh Police.

Apart from this, six soldiers of the Indian Army have been awarded the Shaurya Chakra by the government for their exceptional gallantry. Apart from this, 120 soldiers of the Indian Army have been awarded the Sena Medal for bravery. Out of these, 04 soldiers have been awarded for the second time (‘Bar to Sena Medal’). 28 soldiers have been awarded ‘Mention in Dispatch’.
