Jofra Archer said that he is targeting a comeback by September this year and looks forward to playing in the T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November. Earlier this year, Archer was ruled out of the English season’s competitive cricketing action after the injury was discovered.
Archer has not played for England since the five-match T20I series in India in March 2021 and has undergone three surgeries since then. Archer wrote in the Daily Mail, “I know I have a lot of cricket left in me. I am recovering from my injury. Although it was officially picked up by medics in May, when I was training with the Sussexes I first felt it while bowling in the nets during England’s tour of the Caribbean in March.
Archer revealed that he had a fine back while bowling in the England nets ahead of the second Test against the West Indies in Barbados, but things changed when he returned to England, his problem being so severe that he had to undergo surgery. With a prolonged separation with him, Archer is now focusing on recovery to return to competitive cricket.
He said, “Of course, I have had one injury after another, but I am not overly disappointed at this stage, because I came in with a long spell long ago. If I had played one match and stopped, it would have been very difficult. . Things still haven’t changed and I’m still trying to get back on the field.”
