A century partnership for the first wicket between Moeen Ali and Kenar Lewis helped Northern Warriors beat Chennai Braves by 19 runs to register their maiden win in the Abu Dhabi T10 cricket tournament. Moeen (49 off 19 balls, three fours, five sixes) and Lewis (49 off 19 balls, six fours, three sixes) added 106 runs for the first wicket.
Captain Rovman Powell made 28 off 12 balls and Samit Patel made an unbeaten 18 off nine balls as the Warriors posted a mammoth total of 152 for four in 10 overs.
In reply, Dasun Shanaka-led Chennai Braves were bowled out for 133 in 9.5 overs. For him, Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 34 off 13 balls and Ravi Bopara scored 30 runs in 13 balls.
For Warriors, Osen Thomas took three wickets while Josh Little and Umar Ali took two wickets each. Abhimanyu Mithun took one wicket.
