The news of military exercises of American soldiers with North Korea has left North Korea restless. This is the reason why now he is threatening once again. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister criticized South Korea’s military drills with the US on Tuesday, claiming it was a rehearsal for an offensive. He also warned that North Korea will also strengthen its deterrence capability.
Kim Yo Jong’s statement came at a time when South Korean media reported that a four-day military exercise would begin on Tuesday, ahead of a computer-based exercise with the ally’s army from August 16 to 26. Kim Yo Jong said that he has been given the right to issue a statement. This means that this message has come directly from his brother.
Hours after his comments were published on state media, South Korea’s defense and unification ministries said North Korean officials had not responded to their calls on the inter-Korean hotline on Tuesday afternoon. South Korean officials said they were closely monitoring developments, but it was not immediately clear whether North Korea had cut communication channels again.
Kim Yo Jong said the ongoing military drills expose the Biden administration’s sham stance to resume talks on North Korea’s nuclear program. He said that until America does not withdraw its army and weapons from South Korea, there will be no peace on the Korean peninsula.
“This is the most vivid expression of America’s hostile policy towards Abhyay (North Korea), designed to forcefully suppress our country, and an unwanted act of self-destruction,” he said. This has put our people and the situation on the Korean peninsula in further danger.
“In order to establish peace on the peninsula, it is imperative for the US to withdraw its offensive troops stationed in (South) Korea,” he said. As long as US forces remain in (South) Korea, the root cause of the periodic worsening of the situation on the Korean peninsula will never end.
Kim Yo Jong said that North Korea will continue to increase its capacity to deal with any threat of a military attack from the US. Defense and firepower will be strengthened to deal with any military action. The US has deployed 28,000 troops to South Korea to respond to any misadventures by North Korea. The US made a formal announcement about the military exercise this month.
