Novak Djokovic once again suffered the loss of not taking the Covid-19 vaccine. He will not participate in the US Open tennis tournament, the last Grand Slam of the year. This champion player of Serbia has not yet taken the Covid-19 vaccine. He was not allowed to travel to the US because of his handling of the worldwide infection. The US Open begins on Monday at Flushing Meadows, New York.
Djokovic not allowed to take part in US Open
Djokovic announced his withdrawal from the Grand Slam tournament on Twitter on Thursday, shortly before the US Open draw was released. Djokovic wrote, “Sad that I won’t be able to travel to New York this time for the US Open. I will stay positive and look forward to participating in the next competition.”
Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for US Open. Thank you #NoleFam for your messages of love and support. ❤️ Good luck to my fellow players! I’ll keep in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again. 💪🏼 See you soon tennis world! 👋🏼

Djokovic adamant on not getting the Covid-19 vaccine
Foreign nationals who have not been vaccinated for COVID-19 are not allowed to enter the US or Canada, and Djokovic said he would still not be vaccinated even if he was barred from playing in some tournaments.
Was out of Australia Open due to non-availability of Covid-19 vaccine
Djokovic missed the Australian Open earlier this year due to lack of vaccination. He was stopped by the police in Australia amid controversies. After spending a day in Australia, Djokovic was ordered to leave the country. In addition he had to miss out on several important tournaments in North America.
This year he participated in the French Open where he lost to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals. He then participated in Wimbledon and won the title.
Djokovic’s Unmatched Career
The 35-year-old Serbian Djokovic has won 21 Grand Slam tournaments in his career so far. He has won the US Open title three times so far. He has won titles in the last Grand Slam of the year in 2011, 2015 and 2018. Djokovic has also been the runner-up at the US Open six times. Last year, his dream of winning all four Grand Slams in one calendar year was shattered by Daniil Medvedev in the final at Flushing Meadows.
