New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday heaped praise on golfer Aditi Ashok and said she “may have missed out on winning a medal at the Tokyo Olympics but has set an example”. India’s Aditi Ashok on Saturday missed out on a medal in the Olympic Games golf event by scoring three-under 68 in the fourth round affected by inclement weather to finish fourth.
Well played @aditigolf! You have shown tremendous skill and resolve during #Tokyo2020. A medal was narrowly missed but you’ve gone farther than any Indian and blazed a trail. Best wishes for your future endeavours.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted, “Excellently played Aditi. You displayed great skill and determination at Tokyo 2020. You missed out on a medal by a small margin, but you went way beyond what any Indian has achieved so far and you have set an example. Best wishes for the future.” Aditi, who was close to a historic medal in the Olympics, started the morning at number two but fell behind. However, Aditi, who finished 41st in the Rio Olympics, has performed exceedingly well.
