The men’s singles final of the Syed Modi International Badminton has been declared a ‘no match’ after a player tested positive for COVID-19 and the prize money will now be divided between the two players.

The World Badminton Federation (BWF) said in a statement issued on Tuesday, “Both players who have reached the final of the Syed Modi International 2022 men’s singles will get an equal share of world ranking points and prize money.”

“One finalist tested positive for COVID-19, while the other finalist is believed to be his close contact, hence the men’s singles final has been declared ‘no match’,” it said.

The final match was to be played on Sunday between two French players Arnaud Merkle and Lucas Clearbot. Indian star PV Sindhu defeated compatriot Malvika Bansod to win the women’s singles title.
