Stock Market: Sensex and Nifty fell as soon as the market opened

The stock market once again opened with weakness. On Thursday, the major indices of the stock market came on the red mark as soon as they opened. During the market opening at 9.15 am, the BSE Sensex fell 280 points and opened at 60660, while the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also opened at 18044 points with a fall of 63.

The weakness in foreign markets is believed to be behind the decline in the Indian market. Most US markets closed down on Wednesday. At the same time, weakness has also been seen in the Asian markets this morning.

Markets closed with a fall yesterday

On Wednesday, the Sensex fell marginally by 17.15 points to close at 60,910.28. Pressure was also seen on Nifty. The Nifty closed at 18,122.50, down 9.80 points. Only 12 stocks included in the Sensex gained while 18 declined. Titan, Mahindra, Maruti, PowerGrid, IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Tech Mahindra and Wipro were the gainers on the Sensex. At the same time, out of 50 stocks included in the Nifty, 19 gained and 31 declined.

Foreign market also under pressure

Talking about the US markets, the Nasdaq Composite closed at 10,213.288. Which is the lowest level since the index reached a record high in November 2021. The last time Nasdaq closed at a lower level was in July 2020. Its previous low for 2022 was 10,321.388 on 14 October. In addition, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 365.85 points, or 1.1 percent, to 32,875.71; The S&P 500 closed down 46.03 points, or 1.20 percent, at 3,783.22; And the Nasdaq Composite fell 139.94 points, or 1.35 percent, to 10,213.29.

Slowdown in Asian market as well

Asian markets were trading lower in early trade on Thursday with the Nikkei, Kospi, Taiwan down 1 per cent each, while the Straits Times was down 0.5 per cent.
