TVS Motor Company has announced a strategic partnership with Swiggy, India’s leading food delivery platform. As part of this partnership, TVS Motor will provide its iQube electric scooter to Swiggy’s delivery agents. Last year, SoftBank-backed Swiggy had announced that it was planning to cover deliveries of up to 8,00,000 kms per day through electric vehicles by 2025.
Swiggy last year signed an agreement with Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBML) to build an EV ecosystem and battery-swapping stations. The company has also joined hands with e-cycle manufacturer Hero Lectro to provide cargo e-cycles to its delivery partners. Trials related to this are going on in cities like Bengaluru, New Delhi and Hyderabad.
TVS said in a statement that this partnership highlights the brand’s commitment to strengthen electrification across the diverse mobility segment and is in line with Swiggy’s many efforts to enable the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in its delivery fleet. As part of the MoU, TVS Motor and Swiggy will test the implementation of TVS Motor’s EVs for food delivery and other on-demand services.
The two companies are also looking to co-create sustainable and comprehensive solutions for Swiggy’s delivery partners. This would include working on customized packages such as need-specific products, flexible financing options and, connected services. The delivery partners of Swiggy Delivery will be instrumental in driving the adoption of EVs in on-demand delivery services.
Swiggy aims to expand the presence of TVS iQube Electric to all major cities by the end of the current financial year. The electric scooters in Swiggy’s delivery fleet are currently available in 33 cities including Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kochi and Coimbatore.
Manu Saxena, Senior Vice President, TVS Motor Company said that TVS Motor has been at the forefront of providing green and connected vehicles to its customers. Our association with Swiggy is a significant step towards strengthening the electrification of mobility in food delivery and last mile delivery services, enabling easy adoption of EVs among delivery partners.
