It was expected for a long time that Yezdi would name one of its new motorcycles “Roadking”, but it did not happen. Luckily Yezdi Roadking is reserving the moniker for a more powerful motorcycle, which will probably be the flagship product of the manufacturer. Yezdi Roadking can be introduced by the end of 2022 or early 2023.
According to the information, the development of this motorcycle is going on and at present no test mule of this new motorcycle has been seen during testing. Also, the Yezdi Roadking is not expected to share the platform with any existing motorcycle.
However, it is expected that the engine used in it will be shared with the recently launched BSA Goldstar. Let us know that 652cc, dual overhead cam, single-cylinder, four-valve engine has been used in BSA Goldstar.
The engine also gets the feature of liquid cooling and produces a maximum power of 45 bhp and peak torque of 55 Nm. BSA is using a 5-speed gearbox with slipper clutch with this engine. This is the same engine that BMW used in the F650 Enduro.
It was first made by Rotax and it may look a bit outdated, but BSA has modernized it. It now gets a fuel injection system and has been updated to comply with Euro 5 emission norms. Information about the upcoming Yezdi Roadking is scant at the moment.
Although some things can be predicted about this bike. Yezdi will ensure that the Roadking still has a retro feel and look, which is expected to feature a squared-off fuel tank and engine casing. But some modern touches will also be included.
For example, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, all-LED lighting, USB charger and a digital instrument cluster can be given in this bike. In the Indian market, the Yezdi Roadking will compete with 650 motorcycles from Royal Enfield, including the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
Royal Enfield will launch more such motorcycles which will be powered by the 650cc engine. The price of Yezdi Roadking can be around Rs 2.7 lakh ex-showroom. Talking about Royal Enfield’s 650 cc engine, it produces 47 bhp power and 52 Nm peak torque output.
It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. Apart from this, the engine of Royal Enfield is parallel-twin. On papers the Yezdi’s engine may look like it is a bit less powerful, but it also produces a bit more torque.
Also the power and torque of the Yezdi engine already kicks in as compared to the Royal Enfield engine. Let us tell you that Yezdi has made a comeback with three motorcycles. These motorcycles include the Roadster, Scrambler and Adventure.
All these motorcycles use a 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox. However, it has been tuned differently for all the three motorcycles. So, it behaves differently according to the motorcycle.
