Toyota has finally introduced the new Innova Hycross MPV for India. Its sales will start by January next year. The Innova Hycross is completely new in many aspects like its design, interiors, tech features, platform and engine options. It is being manufactured at the plant located in Bidadi near Bangalore. The hybrid engine Toyota claims a mileage of 21.1 kmpl.
Toyota Innova Highcross: Exterior Design
The Innova Highcross looks similar to the Genix that was introduced in Indonesia. In the new generation model, Toyota has shifted the grille upwards on the Innova, giving it a more SUV look. It looks similar to the Corolla Cross SUV sold overseas. It looks completely MPV when seen from the side. Also the rear doors are very long. It looks similar to the Veloce MPV that Toyota sells in some international markets.
Like the Crysta, the new Highcross gets a large glasshouse, which makes for a great viewing experience across all three rows. It gets large, 10-spoke alloy wheels. Which has been given an upmarket design with a premium look.
The Highcross measures 4,755mm in length and 1,850mm in width – both slightly larger than the Innova Crysta. Talking about the wheelbase, the new Innova Highcross is also longer by 100mm.
Toyota Innova Highcross: Interior Design
On the inside, the interiors of the Highcross are completely different from the Crysta. It gets a multi-layer dashboard, which makes it unique, while some elements like the steering wheel and digital instrument cluster look like the Voxy MPV sold overseas. What really stands out is the large 10.1-inch floating touchscreen. Also, the instrument cluster is also semi-digital with a 4.2-inch MID display.
The HighCross also gets a new dashboard-mounted gear lever console, which is between the front seats. The higher variant of the MPV gets a dual-tone, brown and black interior theme with dark chestnut seat upholstery.
Toyota Innova Highcross: Variants & Features
The Highcross comes with a total of five variants and Toyota has equipped it with features like paddle shifters, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, 9-speaker JBL audio system, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control and powered tailgate. In a first for the Innova, the new Highcross also gets a large panoramic sunroof.
The new Innova Highcross marks the debut of Toyota Safety Sense suite of ADAS technology in India. It has features like lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. Among other safety features, the Highcross is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and ESP.
Toyota Innova Highcross: Engine & Mileage
The Innova Highcross gets petrol and strong-hybrid engine options and will not get a diesel engine option. Strong-hybrid There is a 2.0-liter engine equipped with Toyota’s fifth-generation strong hybrid technology (M20A-FXS). It generates 151 bhp and 187 Newton meters of torque. The non-hybrid 1,987 cc engine, on the other hand, produces 173 bhp and 197 Nm of torque.
The hybrid engine Toyota claims a mileage of 21.1 kmpl. At the same time, you can run up to 1097 km on a full tank. Toyota claims that the Innova Crysta can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.5 seconds.
Toyota Innova Highcross Expected Price
Bookings for the Toyota Innova Highcross are already underway and the carmaker is expected to announce the prices in January 2023. The Hycross is expected to be priced around Rs 22 lakh-28 lakh and will be sold alongside the Innova Crysta. Once launched, it will rival the Mahindra XUV700 and the Tata Safari.
