Beware of this dangerous message on WhatsApp! Bank account may be empty

Ever since the corona virus epidemic has spread in the world, online frauds have increased significantly. Meanwhile, security researchers have warned users about a new delivery scam that is trying to trick users. Scammers send messages containing scam links through WhatsApp and inform users about their online orders. Innocent users become victims of scams and lose all their bank savings. If you are smart and careful, then you will never fall into such scams, but if you click on these links without thinking, scammers can take advantage of this thing.

Russian security researchers at Kaspersky Lab have issued a warning about a package delivery scam that is growing rapidly. Researchers have revealed that scammers masquerade as executives of online delivery companies. They then inform the person about a package that needs to be delivered to their home. However, this process is not as easy as it appears.

Cybercriminals then ask users to click on the link that is provided with the message to complete the process. They are asked to make a small payment to ensure that their product is delivered safely to their home.

How hackers carry out fraud
Incidents like this have increased significantly in the last 3 months, in which a small payment is asked for an unknown parcel. The reason for invoicing ‘Mail Company’ can be anything from custom duty to shipment payment. Kaspersky Lab said that, when trying to pay for the service, along with the compensation fraud, users are taken to a fake website where not only do they pay for the product, but also bank cards and accounts. The information is also left on the website.

When you buy something from Amazon or Flipkart, you know what you ordered and when the parcel will be delivered to you. This is because you have a tracker on the app, which keeps you informed about your product. No company will ever ask you to make a payment to ensure safe delivery, even if you have opted for cash on delivery mode of payment. In such a situation, no additional payment will be taken, no matter what happens.

Advice for users…
The researchers have asked users to be wary of such emails and to always check the source of messages that do not seem to be very credible. You should never click on a link that does not contain the correct website address or looks suspicious. It is recommended to install a security solution to keep such threats and phishing attacks away.
