Danny Boyle praised Gauahar Khan
Gauahar Khan told in an interview to Film Companion that ‘there is no formula to get a good role. Even if you look good, success is not guaranteed. I had to give up the biggest projects of my life just because I looked good, and this project was ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. I met Danny Boyle and auditioned for five rounds. After the fifth round, he said that ‘You are a great actor, have you taken training in India itself’.
Gauahar Khan’s beauty became a hindrance
The actress further said that ‘I hardly had any experience at that time, I said that ‘yes I have taken training in India itself’. He said that ‘You speak like outside actors speak, how did you learn?’. I said ‘I don’t know, I’ll just try’. Then he said, you are a great actor but we will not be able to cast you because I have to match three age groups and can’t keep up with your face in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. I said ‘I can be in slum too’.
Gauahar Khan has no regrets
Gauahar Khan further said that ‘I have no regrets about not getting work in the film, because I met Danny Boyle and he called me a good actor. It is good that I am getting roles because of my performance.
