Shillong: Chief Minister of Meghalaya Konrad K. sangma Unknown miscreants threw a petrol bomb at his residence on Sunday night. police gave this information. He said the incident took place around 10.15 pm when miscreants in a vehicle hurled two bottles filled with petrol at the premises of the chief minister’s private residence located in Upper Shillong’s Third Mile. A senior district police officer said that no one was injured in the incident.
The official said that the first bottle was thrown in the front part of the premises, while the second bottle was thrown in the rear. However, the watchman extinguished the fire immediately. Following vandalism and arson in the state capital and adjoining areas on Independence Day, the state government imposed curfew in Shillong and banned mobile internet services in at least four districts.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has resigned amid violence in Shillong over the shooting of a former militant by police. Rymbui also urged the chief minister to conduct a judicial inquiry into the shooting of Chesterfield Thangkhiew, the self-styled general secretary of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council, who had surrendered.
Thangkhiew was shot dead on August 13, when he was allegedly trying to attack a police team with a knife during raids at his house in connection with the series-wise IED blasts in the state.
