The rally in the domestic equity markets of the previous session continued on Wednesday amid strength in the global markets as Sensex and Nifty registered gains in early trade. During this period, the 30-share index of BSE rose by 250.14 points to reach 62,783.44 points. The broader NSE Nifty was up 75.5 points at 18,683.50.
In the previous trading session, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex closed at 62,533.30, up 402.73 points, or 0.65 per cent, on Tuesday. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also closed at 18,608 points with a gain of 110.85 points, or 0.60 percent.
Strong gains in these stocks
Power Grid, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, NTPC, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, Larsen & Toubro and State Bank of India were among the major gainers on the Sensex. On the other hand, the shares of Bharti Airtel declined.
Mixed business in foreign markets
In other Asian markets, the markets of Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong were up. US markets also closed with gains on Tuesday. International oil index Brent crude 0.
fell 20 percent to $ 80.51 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 619.92 crore on Tuesday, according to provisional stock market data.
