Mumbai. Streaming platform ZEE5 on Thursday announced its new film ‘Kya Meri Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai’. It starred Punjabi actors Jassi Gill and the late Surekha Sikri. This is Sikri’s last film. This romantic-comedy film directed by Saurabh Tyagi is based on a real incident when ‘Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai’ was written on a note and it went viral instantly. Popular TV actress Surbhi Jyoti’s Bollywood career is starting with ‘Kya Meri Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai’, in which she is paired opposite Gill.
Set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh, the film is about a young man, Sintu (Gill), who falls in love with Sonam Gupta (Jyoti) and the story turns interesting when Sonam retaliates for his feelings. Which makes Cintu even more confused. A line written on a note goes viral and then a chain of events begins, which is presented in the style of comedy.
Sikri, who will be seen in a pivotal role in the film, died of heart failure in July at the age of 75. Manish Kalra, Chief Commercial Officer, Zee5 India said that they are thrilled to present a fictional story based on a true incident filled with romance and humour.
