Rising fuel prices and high maintenance costs are now attracting buyers to e-scooters. The starting price of electric scooters is 30-40 per cent more than petrol scooters, but in the long run they are much cheaper than petrol scooters. Despite this, there has been a jump in the sales of scooters in India in the last month. Let us know which scooters have made it to the top-10 list in April 2022 sales in India.

The Honda Activa retained its title as the No. 1 scooter in India with sales of 1,63,357 units, up 48.94 per cent as compared to 1,09,678 units sold in April 2021. The Honda Activa last month captured 47.17 per cent of the overall scooter market.

TVS Jupiter stood second with 60,957 units sold, which was up 138.39 per cent as compared to 25,570 units sold in April 2021. Keeping in mind the demand of iCube and to foray into the electric two-wheeler space, TVS has launched two new variants of iCube with greater range. The new TVS iQube offers a range of 140 kms while the old iCube offers a range of 75 kms.

Suzuki Access scooter sales declined by 38.20 per cent to 32,932 units, down 20,353 units as compared to 53,285 units sold in April 2021. TVS Ntorq sales grew by 26.59 per cent to 25,267 units from 19,959 units sold in April 2021. Ntorq accounts for 7.30 per cent in this list and was also the fourth best-selling scooter in FY22.

Honda Dio sales declined 7.16 per cent year-on-year to 16,033 units. Honda Dio sales stood at 17,269 units in April 2021. Hero Pleasure sales also declined by 32.76 per cent to 12,303 units in April 2022 from 18,298 units in April 2021.

Last month, 11,078 units of the new Suzuki Avnis were sold. On the other hand, Suzuki Burgman sold 9,088 units, which was 11.45 percent higher as compared to 8,154 units sold in April 2021.

Hero Destini 125 scooter sales declined 1.53 per cent to 8,981 units in April 2022 from 9,121 units sold in April 2021, while TVS Scooty Pep+ sales declined by 8,143 units to 6,329 units last month.
