The Women’s T20 Asia Cup is a Twenty20 International cricket tournament organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). This year’s edition of the tournament will be the sixth and will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 3rd to 10th June 2021. The tournament will feature six teams from across Asia including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and host nation Malaysia.
Overview of Womens T20 Asia Cup
The Women’s T20 Asia Cup was first held in 2012 and has since been held biennially. The tournament has been won by India on four occasions, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka have each won the title once. The 2021 edition of the tournament will be the sixth and is being held in Malaysia. It will be the first time the tournament has been held outside of India, with the previous editions all taking place in the country.
Schedule of Womens T20 Asia Cup
The 2021 Women’s T20 Asia Cup will take place from 3rd to 10th June 2021. The tournament will begin with the opening match between Bangladesh and India on 3rd June, followed by the second match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on 4th June. The remaining matches will be played on 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th June. The final will take place on 10th June at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur.
Participating Teams
The six teams participating in this year’s tournament are Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and host nation Malaysia. Each team will play the other five teams in a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final.
Venues
The 2021 Women’s T20 Asia Cup will be held at three venues in Malaysia. The opening and closing matches of the tournament will be held at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur, while the remaining matches will be held at the Royal Selangor Club in Kuala Lumpur and the Selangor Turf Club in Shah Alam.
Format of the Tournament
The 2021 Women’s T20 Asia Cup will follow a round-robin format, with each team playing the other five teams once. The top two teams at the end of the round-robin stage will advance to the final, with the winner being crowned the champion.
