IPL 2022: CSK made the biggest score in the powerplay, Lucknow bowlers got beaten up

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scored the highest powerplay score of this season against Lucknow Super Giants in the second match of IPL 2022. CSK scored 73 runs in the first 6 overs against Lucknow due to the stormy batting of Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali. This is also Chennai’s fourth highest powerplay score in the history of IPL.

In the 7th match of IPL 2022, Lucknow captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bowl first. Chennai’s runs were being made from the beginning. Robin Uthappa’s bat was running fiercely. He had completed his half-century in just 25 balls. England all-rounder Moeen Ali also played a brilliant innings of 35 runs in 22 balls. Both the batsmen demolished Lucknow’s bowling attack in the powerplay.

CSK’s 4th highest score in Powerplay

Chennai Super Kings scored their highest score of 100 runs in the powerplay against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the 2014 IPL. After this, 90 against Mumbai Indians in 2015 and 75 against KKR in the 2018 season have also been the highest scores in CSK’s powerplays. This is the fourth highest powerplay score for Chennai against Lucknow in this match.

This is the highest Powerplay score so far this season. In this match being played in Brabourne, Mumbai, CSK showed an aggressive approach from the beginning. Defending champion Chennai Super Kings lost their first match against KKR by 6 wickets. At the same time, Lucknow Super Giants also had to face defeat against Gujarat Titans.

In today’s match, Chennai Super Kings have not included Adam Milne, Devon Conway in the team. Moeen Ali did not play the first match due to visa problem but he made a good comeback in this match. Apart from this, Robin Uthappa opened the innings with Ruturaj Gaikwad when Conway was out and scored a brilliant fifty.
