Akshay Kumar’s latest release, Samrat Prithviraj, has seen a major box office drop of 81%, making it difficult for the film to recover its losses. While the pandemic has had a huge impact on the movie’s performance, there are other factors at play as well. In this article, we will explore the reasons behind the box office drop and discuss what can be done to reverse the trend.

Akshay Kumar’s Film Sees Major Box Office Drop

Samrat Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, was released in November 2020. The movie opened to a large audience, with a box office collection of Rs. 11.5 crore on the first day. However, the movie has since seen a major drop in its box office performance. The movie has now dropped to a collection of Rs. 2.2 crore, a 81% dip from its first-day earnings.

Samrat Prithviraj Struggles to Recoup Losses

The drop in box office performance has made it difficult for the movie to recoup its losses. The total production cost of the movie is estimated to be Rs. 75 crore, and the movie has earned around Rs.25 crore so far. This means that the movie is still short of Rs. 50 crore to cover its production costs.

Analyzing the Factors Behind the Box Office Dip

The major factor behind the box office dip is the ongoing pandemic. Due to the restrictions imposed by the government, many theatres have been closed, leading to a decrease in the number of people watching the movie. Additionally, the movie has received mixed reviews from critics, which has also led to a decrease in its viewership.

Impact of Pandemic on Film’s Performance

The ongoing pandemic has had a huge impact on the performance of Samrat Prithviraj. With the government imposing restrictions on theatre capacity, the number of people attending theatres has decreased significantly. Additionally, with more people opting to stay home, the demand for the movie has decreased, leading to a further drop in its box office performance.

What Can be Done to Reverse the Trend?

In order to reverse the trend, the producers of Samrat Prithviraj need to take some measures. Firstly, they should look into releasing the movie on digital platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, as this will help them recoup some of their losses. Additionally, they should look into promotional activities such as advertising and social media campaigns to increase the visibility of the movie and attract more viewers.
